How to: Choose a Roscan Cutting BoardFrancais





Wood or nylon?  How does one decide whether to buy a wood or a nylon (commonly known as plastic) board?  The answer is personal preference!  We offer both choices of cutting boards, Roscan wood and ERAware nylon, available in a variety of sizes, configurations, and all allowing double-sided use.  The majority of Roscan wood boards and ERAware nylon boards are made in Canada!

The hand made wood Roscan boards have the warm, natural feeling like fine finished wood.  Wood boards are a great option if you have lots of counter space as your Roscan wood board can be left on display, ready to use as needed making it ideal for the busy kitchen.  Your Roscan wood board can also be used as a serving dish: cheese, roast, even as a plate for a personal portion of steak!  We offer Roscan wood boards with rounds corners, plastic feet, wells for accumulation of meat juices, etc.  There is literally a wood board for any need. 

Wood boards are knife friendly as they do not dull the blade; knife blades gently cut into your food and safely into the wood without resistance or dulling as when using glass.  A good washing with gentle soap and an immediate thorough drying will keep your Roscan wood board safe from harmful bacteria.  It is recommended to regularly apply mineral oil to help your Roscan wood board looking new (detailed instructions can be found in our How To: Clean and Care for Roscan Hardwood Cutting Boards article).

Our ERAware nylon boards are crafted in our own facility allowing us to keep a close eye on all aspects of production including the use of BPA free materials.  We offer a variety of sizes and styles including juice well, two sided use and convenient single sided handle (double sided handle for the roast boards).  The rubber corner ERAware boards offer a splash of color and slip resistance when being used.  The ERAware nylon boards are light and thin making them easy to store and use quickly.  It is highly recommended to clean your ERAware nylon board in the dishwasher as the high heat will kill any bacteria foods may have left on it.  ERAware nylon boards have a rough finish which resists cut marks and keeps them looking new.   Just use and enjoy!
